When an idea for a study station popped up at a lunch meeting with the architect and dealer principal for the University of Mississippi Med School project, they proved themselves as resourceful as us by grabbing a napkin and sketching a concept. From the outset, the intent of the study carrels was to create a destination space for prospective and current students. This was achieved by designing a station that matched the modern architectural finishes of the new space while providing the functionality desired by the students. Light Ash veneer and white solid surface worksurfaces complemented the other architectural features of the area while a shelf with LED down-lighting and integrated power plugs provided tools for educational success. Iterated multiple times throughout the space, the once rudimentary concept had become a focal point in the new Med School facility.
